Inmins was incorporated in the Republic of South Africa on 25 March 1969 and was first listed as Dan Perkins Holdings Limited in 1980. In 1985 the nature of business changed and the name was changed to Danech Mining Supplies Limited. After a change of control in the ultimate holding company in 1991 the name was changed to Inmins Limited. The company was listed on the JSE Securities Exchange of South Africa up to May 2005. After the minority shareholder interests were acquired by its holding company, Winhold Limited, it was delisted.

Through its main operating subsidary, Inmins Trading (Pty) Ltd operates the largest network of mining supplies businesses in South Africa, as well as one of the largest value-added high-tech facilities which specializes in designing and fabricating high pressure piping systems for the cooling, hydropower and backfill requirements of the mining sector. The group has 22 branches strategically located throughout South Africa and has an annualised turnover of approximately R 500 million.

Inmins Trading (Pty) Ltd, with effect from 1 July 2006, issued 25.1% of its issued above capital to BEE parties. These BEE parties include its broad based employee group as well as experienced outside partners.

Inmins also finances and assists certain previously disadvantaged individuals to start and operate small business enterprises involved in the mining and industrial supplies business.
